How to install the Altitude SIP Phone

The Altitude SIP Phone is a Windows app package, MSIX, that can be installed and deployed in network environments. To know more about MSIX, and how you can deploy an MSIX package in network environments using an .appinstaller file, see the following links:

Installation using the setup package

This installation requires Microsoft App Installer and installs the Altitude SIP Phone for the current user. To install for all users, or on workstations without Microsoft Store or App Installer, see Installation for all users, without Microsoft Store or App Installer.

  1. Log in to Windows using a Windows account with administrative privileges.
  2. Get the Altitude SIP Phone installation package. For example, get the following files for update 8.7.1000:
    • Altitude_8.7_1_to_1000.Windows.Altitude SIPPhone.zip

    Note

    Extract the files before installation.

  3. Run the setup of the Altitude SIP Phone.

Installation for all users, without Microsoft Store or App Installer

Use this procedure to install the Altitude SIP Phone for all users of a workstation. This procedure doesn't require Microsoft Store or Microsoft App Installer, so you can also use it on workstations where these are not available, for example Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC.

  1. Log in to Windows using a Windows account with administrative privileges.
  2. Get the Altitude SIP Phone installation package and extract the files.
  3. Open Windows PowerShell as administrator.
  4. Run the following command, where <path> is the folder of the .msix file and <version> is the version of the Altitude SIP Phone:

Add-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online -PackagePath "<path>\Altitude.SIPPhone_<version>_x64.msix" -SkipLicense

The Altitude SIP Phone becomes available to each user of the workstation at their next logon. For more information, see Add-AppxProvisionedPackage.

Note

Depending on the workstation or domain policies, you may need to allow sideloading of apps. If the installation fails with the error Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CFF, To install this application you need either a Windows developer license or a sideloading-enabled system., enable Sideload apps in Settings > Update & Security > For developers, or enable the Group Policy Allow all trusted apps to install in Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\App Package Deployment. See Sideload line of business apps.

Installation from a network

The network deployment requires a .appinstaller file. See Example of an .appinstaller file for an example of an .appinstaller file that works with the Altitude SIP Phone.

The installation from a network allows the Altitude SIP Phone to automatically update whenever the agent starts the Altitude SIP Phone.

  1. Log in to Windows using a Windows account with administrative privileges.
  2. Click the .appinstaller file in the shared network folder to run the setup of the Altitude SIP Phone.
